Most working photographers are running paperwork they did not write and have not read since they downloaded it. A contract from a Facebook group in 2019. A model release copied off a forum. Cancellation terms that exist only as a sentence in an email, which is to say they do not exist at all.
A decision that is not in the paperwork is a mood, not a term.
These are educational templates, not legal advice. They are written in plain English on purpose: a contract only protects you if your client actually reads it, and clients sign readable contracts faster.
Replace every bracketed field, delete any clause that does not apply to your work, and then pay a local attorney for one review pass. It is a small bill that converts a good template into a document that fits your state.
